Description
Salicornia, known locally as ‘savzòdd’, is a fleshy, salty plant that grows wild in the wetlands of our Gargano coastline.
This ‘sea asparagus’ is preserved in oil according to an ancient recipe.
The roots and woodier parts of the plant are cut, washed gently and boiled for a few minutes in water and vinegar.
Once cooled, the fleshy part of the branches is removed from the hard core, then placed in glass jars and covered with extra virgin olive oil.
With no preservatives or colourings, they are distinguished by their fresh, naturally savoury and delicate taste.
Perfect for gourmet aperitifs, seafood appetisers, refined salads or as an original touch to fish dishes.
INGREDIENTS: salicornia (57%), organic extra virgin olive oil (38%), vinegar, garlic, oregano, chilli pepper.
Once opened, store in the refrigerator and consume within 2 days.
Store in a cool, dry place.
